You can make an Affidavit of Identity when you need evidence of your identity or signature. Affidavit of Death A sworn statement by someone with knowledge of the decedent’s passing which legally declares that they are dead. This is often accompanied by a copy of the decedent’s death certificate. Affidavit of Residence An affidavit of residence swears that the affiant lives at a certain address. This is often required to prove that children can attend school in their parent’s district. Affidavit of Support An affidavit of support states the affiant’s intention to provide financial support for an immigrant to the United States. They are often used for family-based immigration and some employment visa holders. Business Records Affidavit When business records are subpoenaed, the business must also provide a business records affidavit swearing that the records are authentic and have not been manipulated or altered in any way. Small Estate Affidavit If the decedent left no will, the disbursement of their estate is determined through a court process called probate. For estates that are worth less than a certain dollar amount, a relative or heir can avoid the probate process by filing a small estate affidavit to claim the decedent’s assets.
